CUSTOM MILLING - TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Payment

We require a down payment of half of the estimated work before moving the mill.  Final payment is due after adjustments within 1 week of completion OR full payment every 2000 board feet cut.

Our rate is $75 an hour (covers myself and labourer) averaged against $350-$400 per thousand board feet milled.  This ensures a fair price for both parties depending on the type and dimensions of lumber required. in some cases the client can fill in for the labourer to reduce costs. Moving the mill to the site (within 50 km of creston bc), Fuel, set-up, tear-down and moving the mill back are our responsibility and cost.

Conditions

We require a minimum of half a logging truck load (14 cubic metres).

Logs to be milled must be decked up (grading style) at least 12” off the ground with a clear, relatively flat spot at the end for mill set-up.  The spacing of the sleeper logs depends on the lengths required (ask for diagram). The cleaner the logs the less sharpening i have to do, so avoid dragging logs through the mud.  Bucking off larger protruding knots is also appreciated.

With logs larger than 2 people can roll some type of heavy duty, on-site equipment is recommended (ie bobcat/loader/tractor/forklift).

All waste wood and sawdust is the clients responsibility.  A simple firewood jig can be built at the beginning of the process requiring 2 sawhorses, a wheelbarrow and 20-2 foot lengths of rebar.

Safety and Liability

Any damage to equipment or person(s) that occurs due to negligence on the part of the client is the client’s responsibility.

Any damage to equipment or person(s) due to negligence on the part of ourselves, is our responsibility.

No one except myself and my tail-out person is permitted within 25 feet of the spinning blade.

I, _________________________________, have read, understood and agreed to the above conditions.
